Reading Order

I’m oftentimes asked about the best order to read my books. I strive to include bits of the back story in each novel so that a reader can pick up any of my books mid-series and enjoy without losing too much. That said, I tend to think the books are best read in order of publication. My book series, for the most part, have little overlap. You can read Ash Rashid before Joe Court without missing anything. Or you could read Hana Blackwood, then Joe Court, and then Ash Rashid and finally Homer Watson.  It’s up to you.

That said, here’s how I’d read each series.

Joe Court:

1. The Girl in the Motel

2. The Girl Who Came Back [optional novella.]

3. The Girl in the Woods

4. The Boys in the Church

5. The Man in the Meth Lab

6. The Woman Who Wore Roses

7. The Man in the Park

8. The Girl Who Told Stories

9. The Men on the Farm

10. The Man in the River

11. The Man by the Creek

12. The Girl in the Tent

13. The Man in the Fire

Ash Rashid:

1. The Abbey

2. The Outsider

3. By Any Means [optional]

4. Measureless night

5. Pocketful of God

6. No Room for Good Men

7. Sleeper Cell

Hana Blackwood

1. Night Work

2. The Lost Ones

3. Throwaways

Homer Watson

1. The Lost Ones

2. Where I Die

3. Broken Empires

Eventually, there’s going to be some overlap between Homer and Joe Court. For those who haven’t read him, Homer Watson is a detective in St. Louis, Missouri. Joe Court is a detective in the fictional county of St. Augustine, Missouri. They’re going to, eventually, run into each other at work. Hopefully it’ll be fun.
