Nearly a year ago, Detective Mary Joe Court left St. Augustine County to find herself. Now she’s back home and back on the job to fight for the things she believes in.

Unfortunately, there’s no rest for the weary. There are bodies on the ground at a local farm.

It looks like a family fight that got out of hand. But it’s not. The family’s teenage babysitter is gone. So is their youngest daughter.

The girls were taken. But why would anyone abduct a little girl and her babysitter?

Joe knows there’s more to this case than she realizes, and to get the girls back alive, she’ll have to utilize every ounce of ability she has. Even then, that might not be enough. Because the people she’s hunting are dangerous
and closer than she could ever realize.

THE MEN ON THE FARM is the eighth thrilling novel in New York Times’ bestselling author Chris Culver’s Joe Court series. This is a great series. Check it out from the beginning!

đŸ”„Joe races against time to save two innocent victims.đŸ”„

“Morning,” I said. “I’m Detective Joe Court with the St. Augustine County Sheriff’s Department, and I’m here to speak with Makayla Simpson.”

The receptionist, a woman in her early twenties, smiled and typed at her computer before looking up at me.

“The other detective is here already,” she said. She paused and narrowed her eyes. “He was a little gruff.”

“He’s a butthead,” I said. “Do you know where he is, by chance?”

“He went to Ms. Simpson’s room on the fourth floor, but I’m not sure if he’s still there. I can page him if you’d like.”

I thanked her but said no and then took an elevator to Makayla’s floor. George sat on an upholstered green chair in the lobby outside the elevator. He was in his fifties and had dark hair and an angular, pockmarked face. When he saw me, he sighed and started clapping lightly.

“Glad you could finally make it,” he said. “I’ve been here for half an hour waiting for you.”

I forced a smile to my lips and then reached behind me to pull my hair from my face and into a ponytail.

“I didn’t have a job half an hour ago, so you only have yourself to blame for your wasted time,” I said. “What have you done so far?”

He closed his eyes and started to open his mouth but then seemed to think better of it.

“As your partner,” he said, after a pause, “I thought it’d be best to wait for you before doing anything. Ms. Simpson is in room 411 at the end of the hall, but I haven’t gone in to see her.”

“How’s her condition?”

“I don’t know,” said Delgado. “Her doctor was supposed to brief me, but he’s been with other patients all morning.”

“Let’s find a nurse, then,” I said, walking past him to the nurses’ desk nearest Makayla’s room

👉FROM: The Men on the Farm, the eighth book in the Joe Court series. 😋

WHAT’S THE JOE COURT SERIES ABOUT?

‹Joe Court is a young detective in fictional tourist town and county of St Augustine, Missouri. The streets are well-swept, the surroundings are gorgeous, and the people are friendly—except for the murderers, of course.

Beneath its beautiful exterior, St. Augustine is a county built on poison and lies. Its murder rate is astronomical, its government is corrupt, and drug use is out of control.‹Joe’s there to clean the place up. It’s not going to be easy, but she’s exactly the right person or the job.

‹The books are gripping, gritty murder mysteries. In each book, Joe Court investigates a crime—usually a murder, but not always—and takes that crime to a thrilling conclusion. I don’t like cliffhangers. The main story is resolved in each book. You’re going to find out what happened to the bad guys in each story. That said, there are side stories that continue from one book to another. A rumor in one book might turn out to be a far bigger deal than anyone anticipated in later books. Because of that, it’s best to read the story in order.
